Care and Support for Independent Living

Orchard & Shipman Care and Support services are designed to meet the needs of vulnerable young people, adults and their families, helping them to remain independent in their own home or become more independent in new appropriate settings, in an area where they wish to live.

The individual needs of our clients are met with a flexible and tailored service that supports them in living healthy and fulfilled lives.

We cater for a range of needs from low and medium level to high level support needs, and additionally offer our clients the opportunity to select a complete and unique package of support that encompasses the following:-

Full service co-ordination

We understand that care and support goes beyond the services offered within the home, our approach is to ensure that all needs are catered for, from providing help and practical support with life skills, social support and engagement, and community involvement and integration.

Supportive networks

The services we provide are supported by our established network of agencies and professionals which include; occupational therapists, clinical health support and community medical professionals including GP’s, dentists and opticians.

Support for the individual

To ensure we meet the individual needs of our clients we carry out a comprehensive initial assessment in consultation with our clients, their carer, family and any other relevant professional who may know the individual. This information is used to develop a person centred plan.

Our services are designed to support all clients whether referred by the Local Authority, self funded or through self directed support.

Our Team

Using highly experienced and fully trained staff we can offer our clients support that is not only specific to their needs but personal too, and where possible we encourage users to get involved in the staff selection process.

We directly contract our team of staff, each member employed to deliver frontline services is qualified (or working towards) an NVQ Level 2 in Care. Additionally team members that work with particular client groups undergo specialist training.

Our team are supervised and monitored regularly to ensure they are consistently supporting clients with the highest level of service.

Accommodation

Our services to clients can also extend beyond care and support to incorporate accommodation needs.

Using our direct links with Orchard & Shipman’s housing and letting divisions we can also provide our clients with access to affordable private rented accommodation. Orchard & Shipman Care and Support will use their privileged position to source accommodation that suits their needs, in a place that they want to live, and that offers them security for the future*.

*Where an approach has been made to Orchard & Shipman Care and Support to provide a Care Package, and Orchard & Shipman Care and Support have assisted in sourcing a suitable property through Orchard & Shipman housing, it is not a condition of the tenancy to receive care and support services from Orchard & Shipman Care and Support on an ongoing basis.

For over 35 years the Orchard & Shipman group have been working in partnership with Local Authorities nationwide to provide private rented accommodation together with housing needs support services for individuals with general and complex needs. Combining our experience together with a specialist team of care managers we provide choice for individuals, delivering care and support services to individuals the way they want.
