As only one of two private sector companies accredited and regulated by the Tenants Standards Authority, Orchard & Shipman is an unusual if not unique company in that we truly combine the positive caring aspects of the social housing market with the commercial disciplines of the private sector.

Our Accreditations

Orchard & Shipman is one of just two private sector providers accredited by the Tenant Services Authority (TSA) and Homes & Communities Agency (HCA). We’ve also been awarded ISO 9001 accreditation by the British Standards Institute (BSI), and are currently undergoing Investors in People accreditation. Other accreditations include:

Corporate Governance

Regular Board Meetings are held with the attendance of Executive and Non Executive Directors and Chairman. The company is subject to regular audit by its top tier accountants, Grant Thornton, and annual review by ARLA and RICS under the various client bank accounts that are managed. The business is also accredited and regularly reviewed by the British Standards Institution under ISO 9001 and the Tenant Services Authority as part of Housing Management Accreditation.

The shareholders’ role in governance is to appoint the directors and the auditors and to satisfy themselves that an appropriate governance structure is in place. The board’s actions are subject to laws, regulations and the shareholders in general meeting.”

Client monies (Tenant and Landlord rents) are held in designated Client Bank Accounts and are bonded by ARLA and RICS. The bank accounts are subject to regular reconciliation and external audit by Grant Thornton as part of the ARLA and RICS bonding and regulatory framework.
